Fire engulfs Kaduna governor’s residence

The official residence of the Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, was consumed by an early morning inferno on Tuesday.
However, a part of the building complex was affected in the incident.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Reuben Buhari, said the incident occured at about 9.30 am, but was immediately put off through the combined efforts of the state Fire Service and officials of the state Emergency Management Agency.
The statement said that no member of the Yakowa’s family or his domestic staff were affected by the fire.
The statement reads: “Today, June 5, 2012, at around 9:30am, part of d official residence of His Excellency, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, the Executive Governor of Kaduna state was touched by fire.
“It was caused by electrical fault as a result of power fluctuation. The fire was promptly put out by Men of d Kaduna state fire service and SEMA fire service. Everything is now completely under control and the Governor is now continuing with his normal duties.
“His Excellency and the entire members of his household including supporting staff are all fine. His Excellency wishes to thank all those who collectively contributed toward putting out the fire and pray that such an incident does not occur again,” it added.
