There have been several reactions on the Federal Government decision to scrap the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as well as the National Examination Council (NECO), just as JAMB on thursday restate its commitment to conduct the 2013 UTME on April 27th.
Prof. Florence B. Obi of Unica, Abayomi George Ojanuga of
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and Prof. Ralph Akinfeleya of
Unilage, are in total support of the prosposed scrapping, said
it would give true meaning to University autonomy and will help
universities to capture the best students.
Meanwhile, the VC of Caleb University, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, Prof. Olu Jagede of Obafemi Awolowo University and Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie,
argued that the adoption of the white Paper’s recommendations would
spell doom for our nationa’s education sector, which they believe would
be thrown into state of confusion.
