The Head of the Political Section of the British High Commission in Abuja, Paul Edwards, has stated that there is no place for terrorism in a democratic nation like Nigeria
He also said Nigeria’s democracy had grown over the past years, describing democracy as very vital and taking root in the country.
Edwards stated these in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, while being hosted at the old Government Reservation Area (GRA) residence of the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the April 2011  election in the state, Dr. Abiye Sekibo.
The envoy said he decided to visit some leaders across party lines, to be abreast with political activities in Rivers State and other parts of the Niger Delta, with preparations for the 2015 elections in top gear.
Edwards, who visited Port Harcourt for the first time, said: “The British government will continue to work with the Federal Government to tackle terrorism, thereby ending the Boko Haram menace.
“The British government condemns the terrorism going on in the North. We condemn terrorism in very strongest terms. Boko Haram should not be part of Nigeria’s future,” he stated.
